Terms of service.

By creating an account or otherwise using the Service, you represent that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by these Terms and our Privacy Policy.

We may modify these Terms at any time. Material changes will be posted in the App with an updated "Last Updated" date. Continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance. If you do not agree, stop using the Service.

You must be at least 13 years old (or the age of digital consent in your jurisdiction, whichever is higher). If you are under 18 (or the age of majority where you live), you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the Service.

You may not use the Service if you are barred from doing so under applicable law, or if your account has previously been suspended or terminated by us.

Authentication is passwordless. You sign in either with a one-time code (OTP) sent to your email or via Google or Apple OAuth. We never receive, store, or process a password.

Your username is 3–30 characters (letters, numbers, underscore, hyphen). It is public and attributed to your reviews, collections, and shared content. Impersonation, brand-squatting, or offensive usernames may be reclaimed.

You are responsible for the security of the email account and OAuth providers tied to your account. Notify us promptly at contact@nishantjoshi.me if you suspect unauthorized access. One account per person — sharing, selling, or transferring accounts is not allowed.

You can delete your account in-app from Settings → Account. Deletion removes your profile, reviews, photos, favorites, collections, and shopping lists. Backups are purged within 30 days. Some anonymized aggregate analytics may persist.

We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the Service for personal, non-commercial purposes, subject to these Terms.

• Violate any applicable law or regulation.
• Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code.
• Scrape, crawl, or harvest data from the Service.
• Use the Service to send spam, malware, or any form of abuse.
• Interfere with the Service's infrastructure, security controls, or rate limits.
• Use bots or automated means to create accounts, post content, or generate engagement.
• Resell, sublicense, or commercialize the Service or any data obtained from it without our written consent.

"Your Content" includes reviews, ratings, review photos, collections, collection names, collection cover photos, shopping-list items, dietary preferences, and any other material you submit through the App.

You retain ownership of Your Content. By submitting it, you grant us a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive license to host, store, reproduce, display, and distribute it as needed to operate the Service and to make publicly shared content viewable. This license ends a reasonable period after you delete the content or your account, except for backups and caches that age out under our retention schedule (typically up to 30 days).

• Sexually explicit, nude, or pornographic material.
• Violent, gory, or hateful content; harassment or threats.
• Content that infringes anyone's intellectual property, privacy, or publicity rights.
• Illegal content, including content promoting illegal activity.
• Personal information of others (doxxing, addresses, phone numbers).
• False reviews, fake ratings, or coordinated review manipulation.
• Spam, off-topic promotion, or affiliate-link injection.
• Malware or links to malicious websites.

You may attach up to 5 photos per review (JPEG, PNG, or WebP, max 5 MB each). Only upload photos you took or otherwise have the right to share. Photos are screened automatically — including by an NSFW image classifier — before being made visible, and may be rejected or removed if they violate §5.3.

Reviews, ratings, attached photos, and your username are publicly visible inside the App. When you generate a share link for a recipe, restaurant, or collection, anyone with that link can view it through our website at tastetrail.nishantjoshi.me. Do not share or publicly post anything you wouldn't want a stranger to see.

Report objectionable content or users by emailing contact@nishantjoshi.me. We aim to review reports within 24 hours and may remove content, restrict features, or suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms. We may also remove content for any other lawful reason at our discretion.

The Service uses Supabase (database, auth, storage), Spoonacular (recipes), Google Places (restaurants), and Google Gemini (AI step-image generation). When you use related features, queries or recipe step text are sent through our backend to those providers. We are not responsible for their content, accuracy, or availability.

We use Amplitude for product analytics, OneSignal for push notifications, and Sentry (when enabled) for crash reporting. See the Privacy Policy for details on what each provider receives.

Some recipe step images shown in the App are generated on demand by Google Gemini. AI-generated images may be inaccurate, incomplete, or visually misleading. They are illustrative only and are not a substitute for the written instructions, professional culinary guidance, or medical/nutritional advice. You use them at your own discretion.

If you save recipes for offline use, a copy is stored locally on your device. Offline data can become stale if the source recipe changes. We are not liable for outcomes resulting from outdated offline copies.

The App, including its source code, design, branding, logos, and all related materials, is owned by Nishant Joshi (d/b/a TasteTrail) and protected by intellectual property laws. Except for the limited license in §4.1, no rights are granted.

Recipe data, restaurant data, and certain images are provided by third parties (Spoonacular, Google Places, Google Gemini) and are owned by those providers or their licensors. Use of that data is subject to their respective terms.

If you believe content on the Service infringes your copyright, send a notice with: (a) identification of the copyrighted work, (b) identification of the allegedly infringing material and its location in the App, (c) your contact information, (d) a statement that you have a good-faith belief that the use is not authorized, (e) a statement under penalty of perjury that the information is accurate and that you are authorized to act for the rights holder, and (f) your physical or electronic signature. THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

Recipes, nutritional information, and dietary or allergy filters are provided for informational purposes only and are not a substitute for professional medical, nutritional, or culinary advice. Allergy and intolerance preferences are used as filters and are not a safety guarantee — always verify ingredients independently if you have a serious allergy.

Reviews and ratings reflect the views of users, not us. We do not endorse any restaurant, recipe, business, or user opinion.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NISHANT JOSHI (D/B/A TASTETRAIL) SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, GOODWILL, OR OTHER INTANGIBLE LOSSES, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATING TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

Our total cumulative liability for any claim arising out of or relating to the Service shall not exceed fifty US dollars (US $50) or the amount you paid us for the Service in the twelve (12) months preceding the claim, whichever is greater.

Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion or limitation of certain damages, so some of the above may not apply to you. In that case, our liability is limited to the maximum extent permitted by law.

You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless Nishant Joshi (d/b/a TasteTrail) from any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorneys' fees) arising out of (a) Your Content, (b) your use or misuse of the Service, (c) your violation of these Terms, or (d) your violation of any rights of a third party.

We may suspend or terminate your access to the Service at any time, with or without notice, for any reason, including violation of these Terms. You may terminate at any time by deleting your account. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (IP, disclaimers, liability, indemnification, governing law) will survive.

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of New Jersey, USA, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules.

Any dispute that is not subject to informal resolution shall be brought exclusively in the state or federal courts located in New Jersey, and you consent to personal jurisdiction in those courts.

Before filing a claim, please contact contact@nishantjoshi.me so we can try to resolve the issue informally.

If you downloaded the App from the Apple App Store, the following also applies:

• These Terms are between you and Nishant Joshi only, not with Apple Inc. Apple is not responsible for the App or its content.
• Apple has no obligation to provide maintenance or support services for the App.
• If the App fails to conform to any applicable warranty, you may notify Apple, and Apple will refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, Apple has no other warranty obligation.
• Apple is not responsible for addressing any claims by you or any third party relating to the App, including product-liability, regulatory, or consumer-protection claims.
• If a third party claims the App infringes their intellectual property rights, Nishant Joshi (not Apple) is responsible for the investigation, defense, settlement, and discharge of that claim.
• You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a US government embargo, and that you are not on any US government list of prohibited or restricted parties.
• Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you.

If you downloaded the App from Google Play, your use is also subject to the Google Play Terms of Service. Google is not a party to these Terms.

These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and us about the Service and supersede any prior agreements.

If any provision is found unenforceable, the remaining provisions remain in effect.

Our failure to enforce a right is not a waiver of that right.

You may not assign these Terms. We may assign them in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of the Service.

The Service is currently provided free of charge. If paid features or subscriptions are introduced, separate terms covering billing, renewal, and refunds will apply and will be presented to you before purchase.
